Week 5 - Open Asian Recaps
D1
Hapanese (58) v. Bomb Squad (48)
Week 5 of the Asian Open League is in effect! We start off with Hapanese taking on Bomb Squad. Bomb Squad was without their leading scorer, Nick Wong, so the burden of bringing home a "W" payed solely on the shoulders of his brother, Kyle Wong! Kyle did all he could (26p 5r) but the firepower was lacking! On the other hand, Hapanese Had balanced scoring throughout. Led by a double-double from Andrew (14p 15r) and a solid performance by Ryan (12p 5a). Hapanese led Bomb Squad from the jump! Leading 33-16 at the half. Bomb Squad outscored them by 8 in the fourth to make the score respectable. Hapanese was in control for their first win of the season, 58-48!

Go Get It (59) v. Rangers (43)
The next matchup brings Go Get It (formerly known as PayProTec) versus the Rangers! The Rangers came out and were bring the "D" in the first half. Limiting the high scoring Go Get It team to 19 1st half points...they brought the defense but forgot to bring the offense! The Rangers only scored 17pts in the first half! Go Get It finally found their offensive game after the break, scoring 40pts in the second half to bust the game wide open! Jason Rockwell (17p 8r) and a
double-double from Moe (13p 10r) were enough to put the Rangers away! Go Get It wins in style, 59-43!

Squadron (48) v. Eagles (55)
Next on the docket, is a game that has Squadron versus the undefeated Eagles squad! One could say that Squadron had an "off day" shooting from beyond the arc shooting a horrible 2-17 (12%)! That was their major dysfunction. Other than that they shot the ball well (16-33 48% on 2pt shots). Jordan W. (15pts) and Steve T. (13pts) shot the ball well but the rest of the team didn't come along for the ride! The same could be said about the Eagles. They too shot the ball well from 2pt range (19-36 53%) but shot only 3-18 3pt (17%) which was enough for the Eagles to win the game, 55-48!

Boogie Events (52) v. CCU (48)
This game started off with a mixup with the start time of the game, so the teams started off the game 4 on 4! With Boogie missing all of their bigs the game was tight! Boogie held on to a 30-20 lead at the half behind 15pts from Sam Allen and 11pts from Adonis! CCU, on the other hand, had this game for the taking of they only hit their free throws! As a team, they were 12-24 (50%) from the charity stripe! Jeremy did what he could, scoring 21pts to lead all scorers! The Boogie Events team was able to hold onto the lead, with a scare from CCU, to stay among the undefeated, 52-48!

Gators (51) v. Aces of Angels (45)
Our Division 2 brought the action as in our first matchup with the Dawgs looking to remain undefeated versus our newcomer Aces of Angels looking for their first win of the season! The first quarter was a defensive struggle with Aces of Angels taking a 7-5 advantage! The second was a different story! The Gators jumped all over the Aces outscoring them 20-10, to take a 25-17 lead into the half! For the short handed Aces, Jason was the top scorer with a game high 24pts and Matt was a beast on the boards pulling down 15rebs! The Gators had to many fresh players to overcome the Aces and hold on to win the game, 51-45!

Guap (46) v. Dawgs (54)
The last game of the day pitted the undefeated Dawgs versus the youngsters of Guap! The kids of Guap were giving the Dawgs all they could handle in the first half! They were matching them shot for shot! At the half the score was all tied up 28 all! Adonis (12p 5r) and TK (14p 6r) were doing it for Guap in the 1st and 2nd halves respectively! The Dawgs, however, had a little bit more in their tanks to finish the game. The Dawgs went on a 26-18 run in the second half to take the game! Ryan Sera (14p 6r) and Bradley (13p 5r) did just enough to beat the upstart Guap team, 54-46!
