Recaps from Week 1!

Asian League Week One
D1
Dawgs (66) v. Dubs (56)
The Asian season kicks off with the Dawgs and the Dubs (who moved up from D2). The Dawgs are welcoming Ryan Sera back in the fold and newcomers Jalen and Kyoshi to round out the team! The Dawgs were led in scoring by Jalen (19pts) and Dez (15p 6r 3a 2s). After trailing 15-10, the Dawgs outscored the Dubs 56-39 the rest of the way! The Dubs who moved up to D1 this season were led in scoring by MJ and Adlai both with 14pts. Both teams are looking to make some noise this year!

Bomb Squad (76) v. Beastion (70)
The Wong brothers bring their team, Bomb Squad, this season to face their first matchup Beastion who are led by their own set of brothers, Chris and Nick Knight! Beastion moved up this season to face the challenge of D1! The largest lead held by Bomb Squad at the end of any quarter was 6pts! Matty Wong's 34p 9r 4a 4s stat line was enough to bring the victory to Bomb Squad! Beastion's Tyler Lee led the way with 26pts (8-11 3pts) and 21pts from Nick Knight. Nice way to start for Bomb Squad!

The Fam (61) v. Team Royalty (30)
Both of these teams are returning from last season, retooled and ready to make a run at a championship! The Fam was led by James Soy who had 14pts (4-6 3pt) 5r 5a 5s and Warren's 12pts and 6rebs! The Fam shot 23-44 from the field (52%) and 10-19 from 3pt range (53%). For Team Royalty, AJ's 12pts and 3asts and Sean's 8pts and 10rebs led the way. Team Royalty shot a mere 13-41 (32%) from the field. They must improve on their outside shooting if they want to make some noise in this competitive division!

Putties (61) v. Gators (43)
The Putties are back this season to try and make another run and they're joined by an oldie but goodie, The Gators (a team made up from the SF Eagles). The Putties played a great game of "team ball". Sharing the ball and playing defense were their keys to victory! Matt Lai and Clif led the team with 12pts a piece! JMac added 10pts and 8rebs as the Putties went on to beat the Gators 61-43! The Gators were led by Stephen who scored a game high 18pts and Dennis scored 9pts on 3-6 from 3pt range. The Gators look to rebound next week versus another newcomer, Hapanese.

Two brand new teams come to battle in this matchup as GPC take on the MonStars! Both teams struggled finding their shots GPC shot 13-44 (30%) and the MonStars 10-50 (20%). Not a good shooting performance by either team but GPC played a little more "D" and won the game 44-29! Tommy Doan, the played of the game, shot 7-8 from the free throw line en route to a 15pt game to lead the team in scoring and Brian T. hauled down 10rebs! For the MonStars only one of their players came to play! Maynard was 9-21 for 24pts and Adonis came through with 12r 3a 4s 5b! Unfortunately, his shot wasn't falling for him! Next week they look to rebound and get on the right track!

The Yay pull off the CHAMPIONSHIP!

2nd Round Playoff and Championship
(1)The Yay (47) v. (7)Cream of the Crop (42)
The second round of the playoffs began with (1) The Yay taking on upset minded (7) Cream of the Crop. The pace of the game favored The Crop, slow and steady. It was an evenly played first half w/ The Yay leading 25-21 at the intermission. Jon Hall did all he could, scoring game highs in points (25) and rebounds (21)! That was not enough as the Crop lacked that second scorer to put them over the top! The Yay on the other hand did have balanced scoring led by D'Angelo's 18p 12r 5s performance. A combination of Isaiah's 13p and Trevor Dunbar's 7 assists were just enough to put The Yay into the championship game with a 47-44 victory!

(3)Balls Out (67) v. (4)Primetime (52)
The second semifinal game pitted #3 seeded Balls Out versus #4 Primetime. Balls Out would be at full strength while Primetime would be missing their leading scorer, Mark McMahon and it showed! Primetime was only able to muster 13pts (5-26 19% from the field) in the entire first half! While Balls Out only shot 40% from the field in the first half it was more than enough to take a commanding 26-13 lead at the break. Balls Out was led by Greg Tang who had a season high 26p (7-12 from long range) and Kris continues his good shooting with 15p (5-9 from the field). Primetime's Joe tried to pick up the slack with a strong second half scoring 25 of his 26pts. Primetime also got contributions from Joachim and Ray who both chipped in with 10pts each to make the final score respectable. The final score was Balls Out 67-52! On to the 'ship!

The Yay shot 53.4% from the field and 7-21 (33% from 3pt range). Balls Out, on the other hand shot a paltry 15-44 (34%) from the field and 14-26 (53.8%) from the free throw line. Kris and Jordan led the way for Balls Out with 10pts each. The day belonged to The Yay! As they cruised to a championship, 66-49!  Today was a good YAY!
