Week 5 game recaps!

Week 5 Results
D1
PayProTec (77) v. Beastion (50)
Week 5 of the Asian Division One kicks off with defending champions, PayProTec taking on, newcomer to D1, Beastion! Although Beastion put up a god fight, for three quarters, everybody knows that a game is FOUR quarters long! PayProTec, led by Jason Rockwell (25p 6r 3a) and Arik (19p 7r 3s), proved to be too much for Beastion to handle! Shooting a blistering 32-62 (52%) from the field! Beastion, on the other hand, had a pretty tough shooting day. They were a combined 18-48 (38%) from the field! The only bright spot in an otherwise dreary day went to Tyler who had a game high 30pts on 9-18 shooting from 3pt range! The only other Beastion player to show up that day was Nick who had 15pts! PayProTec continued they're undefeated streak as they improved to 3-0.

Jumpmen (60) v. Bomb Squad (53)
Without two of their top scorers (Nick & Matty Wong) Bomb Squad still put in a good effort only to lose in the end, 60-53! Jumpmen was led by Joe Scott (27p 4-8 3pt) and Dwight (12p 5r 4a). The difference in the game was from beyond the arc! Shooting from the field (Jmen 37% / BS 38%) and the free throw line (Jmen 64% / BS 68%) were virtually identical! Jumpmen was 8-25 (32%) while Bomb Squad was a meager 2-12 (17%) from 3pt range! The Bomb Squad team was led by Randall (15p 5r) and Kevin Ho who had 10p 8r! Good effort put forth by both teams!

Dawgs (58) v. Eagles (40)
Grrrr! Do you hear that growling in the distance getting closer? Well, you should cuz that growling is coming from the Dawgs who always tend to play their best ball around this time! Ryan Sera (Dawgs) was going bonkers with 21pts in the 1st half (29pts for the game)! The hoop must've been looking like the size of a hula hoop! Jalen was no slouch himself scoring 16pts while grabbing 8rebs! The Eagles on the other hand were without their point guards in Maynard and Quez! Without them the Eagles had nobody that could initiate the offense! Which explains they're terrible shooting day (16-47 34%)! The Eagles will have two chances to make up for it next week!

Boogie (76) v. Dubs (62)
Two solid teams both looking for their first victory of the season pits Boogie versus the Dubs! Amazingly, both teams shot exactly the same percentages from the field (28-59 47%) AND the 3pt line (6-21 29%)! The difference of the game came from the more aggressive Boogie team! When their shot wasn't falling they would take the ball in and drive the lane looking for contact...and more often then not, there was some contact! The Boogie team was 14-20 (70%) from the free throw line where the Dubs were just 0-1. The difference from the line was the difference in the game (14pts)! Led by Sam Allen's 25pts (including 9-10 from the line) and Adonis 12p 4s the Boogie team beat the Dubs, 76-62!

D2
Gators (68) v. The Fam (60)
This first match in the D2 division saw two teams going in different directions! The Fam is coming off their first loss of the season while the Gators are looking for their third straight win! The first half played really tight as the Gators held a 34-33 lead! The difference in the game was the balanced scoring of the Gators versus the James-Bruce-George show for The Fam! The Gators had contributions in scoring from every player! Led by Dennis (17pts), Mike (14pts) and the Gators complementary players they were able to hold on to the lead and win the right game, 68-60!

Putties (55) v. Team Royalty (32)
"It's not a sprint" is the montra the Putties are going by this season! After a slow start, this matchup with Team Royalty brings them a step closer to their ultimate goal! Matt Szeto (14p 6r 2a 1b) played his best game of the season thus far! The Putties played they're normal "Puttyball", having 5 players score at least 7pts! After shocking the world Team Royalty is slowly coming back to Earth!  They received good contributions from Ian (10p 6r) and a double-double by Irish (10p 10r) but didn't get much help from the rest of the team in a 55-32 loss!

Hapanese (59) v. GPC (57)
This game was the most competitive game of the day! As Hapanese took on GPC! GPC jumped out to a 19-13 lead after the first quarter but fell behind at the half 35-32! The difference in the game was the field goal shooting (Hapanese - 51%; GPC - 40%)! Hapanese was once again led by "TnT", Tye and Tommy who combined for 41pts! GPC received a nice game from Steven (18p 6r 3a 1s) and from Brian T. (10p 4r 3a 1s 1b). The outcome could have been different if Tommy Doan had been there for the whole game! Alas, he wasn't and the Hapanese (4-0) won fair and square!

The finale of the week was a matchup between the defending champion Strokers versus the young MonStars! After opening up the season with a loss the Strokers were looking to win their third straight win! The MonStars are yet to play a complete game! This time it was the third quarter (outscored 21-2) that led to their defeat. The Strokers were consistently good throughout. Lloyd led his team with 15p (5-10 3pt shooting) and Cam chipped in with 12pts. The Strokers are making the league notice them once again. They can't sneak up on people anymore. They are no longer the hunter...they are the hunted!

Week 4 game recaps!

Week 4 Results
D1
Eaglea (59) v. Jumpmen (58)
This battle pits two OG teams as the Eagles take on Jumpmen! The Eagles jumped out to an early 35-17 first half lead! They had the game well under control, shooting a good percentage (25-51 49%) from the field. Jumpmen was down but not out! Inspired by Coach RG, the Jumpmen boys came back! Dwight (16pts) and Joe (14pts) had one more  burst of energy to make the game close! For the Eagles, Arj came thru with 10pts (18pts for the game) in the second half and Quez had 20pts. Just enough for the Eagles to hold off Jumpmen, 59-58!

Bomb Squad (56) v. Boogie (54)
Another competitive game has the Boogie team taking on Bomb Squad! The Boogie team came out strong behind 8 first half pts (14pts for the game) from Tang and 12pts (17pts for the game) from Tye. Shooting for the game was pretty much even (Boogie 43% - Bomb Squad 40%). The major difference came from the free throw line (Boogie 40% - Bomb Squad 71%)! The Wong brothers struck again! In the first half it was Nick with 11pts (15p 10r for the game) and his brother Matty in the second half for the win! Boogie did have a last ditch effort for the win from 35ft out but missed it! Exciting game!

Beastion (51) v. Dawgs (48)
D1 had some battles and this week! This one had Beastion battling the undefeated Dawgs!  It was a tight battle throughout this contest! The Dawgs trying to keep their season record unblemished and Beastion looking to prove that they belonged in the upper echelon of TDS! Tyler started Beastion off by hitting 3-3pters in the first quarter and Chris calmly scored 12pts in both halves giving him a game high 24pts! The Dawgs on the other hand got 10pts from Dez and 21pts and 11rebs from Jalen but it wasn't enough! Again the free throw line was the demise for the Dawgs! As they hit a combined 8-16 (50%) from the free throw line. Better luck next week!

D2
Hapanese (64) v. Putties (61)
Just like the D1 division the guys in D2 would not be outdone! In this first matchup of the day Hapanese took on the Putties! A big first half by mainstay, Matt Szeto (21p 12r), led to a nice game and 19pts from Jason was almost enough to beat Hapanese!  The duo of Tye (24p 12r 8a) and Tommy (30p 6r) proved too much for the Putties to handle. TnT (Tye and Tommy) were unstoppable as they improved their overall record to 3-0 while the Putties fell to 1-3 on the season.

Gators (53) v. GPC (43)
Next matchup has two teams fighting to stay in the fight! The Gators and GPC both are in the hunt for a D2 championship! Shooting from long range was difference in this game. The Gators shot 6-12 (50%) from 3pt range which basically was the difference in this contest! Dennis led his team in scoring with 17p (5-6 3pt) and Mike added 14pts. GPC had a highlight with a 3rd period breakaway dunk by Tommy Doan (18pts). GPC as a team didn't shoot the ball very well. They shot 18-48 (38%) from the field and 6-13 (46%) from the free throw line! Now the Gators and GPC are both 2-2. Let this crazy season continue!

The Fam (56) v. MonStars (47)
This next battle pits The Fam (2-1) versus the winless MonStars (0-3) who are desperately seeking their first victory of the season. The Fam jumped out to a 30-25 halftime lead. The level of competition was stiff! For the MonStars, Maynard scored 12pts and Alex scored 12 of his 13pts in the second half! The MonStars shot a measly 38% from the field and 59% from the free throw line. They've got to shoot better if they want to break the win column! The game was won from behind the arc where The Fam shot 8-23. They outscored the MonStars by nine (The Fam won by 9) from 3pt land. The MonStars look to finally turn their luck around next week!

Strokers (66) v. Team Royalty (28)
Team Royalty was looking at winning their third straight victory versus the defending champions, Strokers! Team Royalty's hopes of a third straight W was short lived. They came into the game undermanned without 2 of their 3 top scorers! Meanwhile, the Strokers had a #FULLSQUAD! Tony led the Strokers with a double-double (13p 11r) and Zack chipped in 10pts. They played like the defending champs that they are! The Strokers are looking for a repeat and if they continue to play like this...they're going to get it!

week 3 recaps

Week 3 Results
D1
Eagles (47) v. Beastion (45)
Week 3 marks a week of big games! The first of which pits the Eagles versus Beastion! A close game throughout the Eagles led by no more than 6pts at the end of any quarter. Led by Quez (13p 11r 5a) and Maynard (5p 12r 6a 3s), the Eagles moved the rock around the floor with ease. They shot 43% (18-42) from the field and a perfect 6-6 from the line where they won the game! Unfortunately for Beastion, only Tyler showed up for this game scoring 26pts on 6-12 from behind the line! They really gave this game away at the free throw line where they shot a paltry 5-13 (38%)! Let's hope they shoot better from the line next week!

Dawgs (58) v. Bomb Squad (36)
This game had two teams that haven't faced defeat in this league this season! When Bomb Squad (2-0) faced off versus the Dawgs (1-0). The undermanned Dawgs (only 5 players) had all the cylinders working! They took control of the game from the word "go".
Ryan Sera, the Player of the Game, scored 18p (to go along with 5r 4a 1s) and Jalen, a key pickup, scored 17pts and grabbed 8rebs! As a team, the Bomb Squad had a horrible shooting from the field. They were a combined 32% (14-44 from the field)! Matty scored 10pts (0-4 3pt) and his brother Nick came late but still managed to lead his team in scoring with 14pts (2-5 3pt). Better luck next week fellas!

Dawgs (49) v. Boogie (47)
A second game of the day for the Dawgs as they take on a newly formed Boogie team! Dawgs held a small lead at the half, 25-22. The Boogie team took the lead back going into the final period behind a 21pt game from Sam Allen! But the Dawgs weren't done! Behind the efforts of POG, Jalen's 20p 5r 2s and Ryan Sera 11pts the Dawgs squeaked by Team Boogie, 49-47 on a last second shot made by Sera! With time running out team Boogie worked the ball down low to Matt Szeto and with some fancy footwork was able to dish it to Jose cutting down left side for the bucket with :07 left! The Dawgs then dribble to half court and call a timeout with :01.6 in the game! The inbounds was triggered by Dez who passed it to Ryan and with one dribble to the left let it go and swish as the buzzer sounded! What a game!

Gators (64) v. MonStars (58)
It's the Old School versus the New Skool as the Gators take on the MonStars! The MonStars are going through some growing pains! They've always got a quarter where they are blown out by so much that they can't overcome! This time it was the 3rd quarter. They were out scored by the Gators 26-11! The Gators did shoot the ball well (23-51 45%). They were led in scoring by Mike S. with 14pts and Stevie T. 13pts! The MonStars, on the other hand, showed some life behind Adonis (17p 9r) and Umar (15p 9r). If they can rid themselves of the bad quarter they'll surprise someone!

Hapanese (60) v. The Fam (34)
The Fam came into this matchup with Hapanese with just 5 players! Those 5 players were up for the challenge! After the 1st quarter, The Fam was up 18-15 but that was it I'm afraid! The Fam only was able to score 16pts the rest of the way. The shot a paltry 28% (13-46 from the field) and 29% from 3. Meanwhile, Tye (17p 8r 6a) and Mike (17p 11r 3a) held it down for Hapanese! They  outscored The Fam, 45-16 from the second period on! Hapanese shot a blistering 25-45 (56% from the field) and 47% from beyond the arc! The Fam hope that they're players show up next week!

Team Royalty (52) v. GPC (40)
Once you can say is lucky.
Twice is nothing but a coincidence.
Three times is a streak!
Team Royalty is one win away from saying, "We're going streaking!" They have been playing well these past two weeks! Their shooting well and getting to all the loose balls! Ian (9p 10r 5s) AJ (15p) both had big games. On the other hand, GPC had a rough day shooting the ball. Besides Jordan Tso's 13pts & 7rebs, GPC didn't have much else! They shot 12-45 (27%) shooting from the field. That's not going to win many games. Hopefully, they can come back strong next week!

Strokers (49) v. Putties (41)
The champs are trying to right the loss that started off their title defense by taking on the Putties! The Stokers came out of the gates strong! Putting forth a 35-20 halftime lead! Giorgio scored 11pts, mostly due in part by the 3-3pt shots he made in the first quarter, and Justin had 12pts. Their balanced scoring was the difference in this game! They shot 43% (20-47) from the field, it wasn't a high percentage but it was high enough on this day! The Putties, after scoring 17pts in the opening quarter, only scored 16pts in the next two quarters combined! Jason scored 10pts and JMac grabbed 10rebs. The Putties need to get back on track next week!

Bomb Squad (59) v. Eagles (47)
The second week brings Bomb Squad versus the Eagles! Bomb Squad looks to start the season 2-0. The Wong bros strike again! Last week it was Matty...this week brings you Nick! With 17p 5r 4a 1t, Nick led his team to a convincing victory over the Eagles! Matty Wong also chipped in 17p 4r. Bomb Squad was able to build their lead versus the Eagles in every quarter to cruise to a 12pt victory, 59-47! Mikko scored 18pts for the Eagles and Quez added 13pts. The Eagles need to have all their weapons working next week, they do not want to fall to 0-2!

PayProTec (66) v. Jumpmen (56)
This next game features two powerhouse teams! Defending champions PayProTec take on perennial powerhouse Jumpmen! PayProTec started this season like they were going to go for a repeat! They started the game on a 24-10 run and never looked back! The scoring was done by Sunny Margate with 26pts but the star of the game was Jason Rockwell. His all around game (11p 8r 4a 3s) was the difference. Jumpmen, after a slow start, finally came to play! Unfortunately, they just ran out of time! Joe Scott scored 16pts and James Maldonado 18pts. Next week they'll hope to get it rolling sooner!

Beastion (65) v. Dubs (61)
A matchup between two teams that called D2 home now battle in D1! After the first quarter, the Dubs were leading a tight game 17-15, but because of a less than stellar second quarter (Beastion outscored Dubs 17-7) they fell behind 32-24 at halftime. It was the same scenario in the second half. Dubs came out strong (20-11 in the 3rd period) retaking the lead behind 17p 8r by Vince and Adlai's 13 second half points. The game was decided in the final period. Beastion, led by Chris Knight's 22pts and Tyler Lee's 12pts (4-8 3pt) won a close game, 65-61! Good showing by both teams!

The Fam (55) v. Strokers (52)
A rematch of last season's championship game had The Fam looking for revenge as they took on the defending champs, Strokers! This was a close battle throughout! Leading the team in scoring were Warren with 12p (6-7 fgs) 8r and James Soy also had 12pts. The Strokers took the lead after the third period by 4pts, 34-30! The Fam took the lead for good in the fourth period behind 6pts by Warren. The Strokers were led by G (18pts) and Lloyd (11pts).

Hapanese (68) v. Gators (65) F/OT
Both of these teams are new to our league although some of the players have played before for different teams. The Gators jumped ahead of Hapanese, 32-25 at the half behind Jordan's 11pts and Mickey's 13pts (both players finished with 18pts). Hapanese came out strong in the second half! Tommy continued his torrid shooting with 13 of his game high 26pts and Tye came through with 16 of his 21pts in the second half and overtime! Again at the end of regulation the main culprit were FREE THROWS! The Gators went to the line twice to either tie or win the game and they split both free throws. The Gators ended up losing a thrilling game, 68-65!

GPC (53) v. Putties (36)
Here's a battle of old and new! As the Putties take on newcomers GPC. The Putties only had 5 players but they said that they were up for a challenge. A challenge is what GPC gave them! The Putties went up 17-15 after the first quarter behind Jason Ree's 12pts (18pts for the game) and Derrick's 5pts! Unfortunately, the lack of a bench proved to be too much for them to overcome! GPC scored consistently throughout the game led by Jordan Tso's 20pts and 8rebs and he was accompanied by Tommy Doan's 11p 8r! GPC didn't shoot well but it was enough. They were 19-51 (37% from the field) and 12-15 (80% from the line). GPC is 2-0 while the Putties fell to 1-1.

Team Royalty (44) v. MonStars (31)
The last game of the day brought two teams looking for their first victory of the season as Team Royalty took on the newbies MonStars! Both teams came out scoring 10pts each in the first quarter. The second quarter was a different story as Team Royalty outscored the MonStars 17-2! Which gave them a commanding lead at the half, 27-12! Led by AJ with 17p and 12p from Irish, Team Royalty held off the MonStars winning the game 44-31! The MonStars are slowly improving. Being the youngest team in the league with an average age of 22. They haven't had their entire team show up at once so the jury is still out...
