Week 6
Average Woes (71) v. United Nations (64)
The season is nearing its end and the playoffs beckons. In this battle, TripleDoubleSports presents the Average Woes versus the United Nations!
On the outset, the Average Woes jumped on the United Nations 22-11 in the first quarter. Andre (33pts) and Prabe (18p 12r) were a formidable one-two punch! Andre slashed to the hole and the United Nations had no answer. Prabe handled the inside clearing out the boards with a game high 12! At the half the Average Woes were up, 43-25!
The United Nations didn't know what hit them!? Toby, showed up in the second quarter but still was able to lead his team in scoring (20p 8r) and AD added 19pts to get United Nations closer. They outscored the Average Woes 39-28 in the second half! The United Nations just ran out of time.
The Average Woes pull off the upset, 71-64!

Rock Center (46) v. Balls Out (45) F/2OT
The second game of the day was definitely an exciting one when Balls Out took on the first place Rock Center!
Both teams shot a horrendous percentage from the free throw line! Balls Out shot 11-23 fts (48%) and Rock Center shot 17-37 fts 46%! Neither team showed that they wanted to win the game! Balls Out jumped out ahead of Rock Center in a very low scoring first half, 22-14!
Rock Center showed some life in the second half behind the play of Steve, who scored a game high 24pts (6-13 fgs 11-20 fts). Usually a good shooting team, Rock Center was horrible on this day! Shooting 30% from the field, 10% from beyond the arc and 46% from the free throw line! Surprisingly, the were very much still in the game!
Because Balls Out were having the same troubles putting the ball in the hoop!? Their team shooting was 36% from the field, 50% for 3pt range and 48% from the line! Tenn kept the guys in the game with 12pts, all in the second half and OT!
The first OT solved nothing! We had to go to a second OT and there Rock Center survived, 46-45 F/2OT!

SLGHTWRK (55) v. Gamble Team (58) F/OT
This was another game where 36mins was not enough when Gamble Team took on the crew from SLGHTWRK!
SLGHTWRK took a slight lead over Gamble Team in the first half behind the 16pts of team captain, Simon Habtu! Miguel came out in the second half/OT with all 11 of his points to keep SLGHTWRK in the game!
The shooting was fairly even at the half (SLGHTWRK 33% to Gamble Team 32%) reflecting the score, 24-22 SLGHTWRK!
Then in the third quarter, the Gamble Team fell behind even further to make the score, 39-33! Gamble Team had to be more aggressive and that's is precisely what they did! Taking it to the hole and taking advantage of their size the Gamble Team went to the free throw line 11 times to 0 for SLGHTWRK in the fourth quarter! The outside shooting of Eric and the double-double from Alec brought Gable Team back! With a couple of seconds left in the OT and facing the second double overtime in a row, Gamble Team inbound the ball to Bobby and in one motion turned and shot a 3 at the buzzer!
Gamble Team won, 58-55 F/OT!

Big Game Ballers (83) v. Primetime (65)
The finale of the day was the defending champion, Big Game Ballers taking on Primetime!
The game was very competitive in the first half! Isaiah Sandoval led Big Game Ballers in scoring again with 28pts and Chris "Duke" Adams scored 16pts in his complementary role. The Ballers were in control for most of the game...outscoring Primetime in every quarter! Leading at the half, 44-33!
Meanwhile, Primetime was led by Tyrone Dickerson (19p 6r) and Antwan Capla who followed his TripleDouble performance with a double-double (18p 10r)! Primetime had the firepower to matchup with Big Game Ballers but they need to be all playing well to do so.
Big Game Ballers win the game, 83-65!

Week 5
Primetime (51) v. Rock Center (64)
Week 5 of the TripleDoubleSports Open Division is underway and we're starting off with a good one! Primetime looking to turn last weeks win into a streak versus Rock Center, who is currently tied for first place!
Primetime had balance scoring led by Daniel Trannel with 19pts and Mr. TripleDouble himself, Antwan Capla with 12pts! Primetime shot the ball well as a team in the first half going 12-24 fgs (50%), but trailed at the half by the slimmest of margins, 28-27!
After an evenly played third quarter, Rock Center blew the game wide open in the fourth! Behind big games from Jon (18p 9r) and from Brett (14p 14r 4b), Rock Center turned a 2pt game into a blowout! They outscored Primetime 23-12 in the final 9mins to win the game going away, 64-51!

MSO (47) v. Gamble Team (64)
The next matchup brought the M.S.O. (Most Slept On) in versus the veteran squad in the Gamble Team!
M.S.O. had been hit with the injury bug! Half their initial roster sustained season ending injuries the has team captain Kwesi Bailey searching for answers?! He managed to get five players to the game on Sunday but the haven't all played together and it showed! The Feinberg's (Marc and Adam) did their best to kept them competitive but they were down for most of the game and at the half they were behind, 35-22!
The Gamble Team had it on cruise control for most of the game! Bobby (25p 13r) and Eric (20p 10r) went for big double-doubles! The two players combined to shoot 16-26 from the field. That was more than enough as they went on to win the game convincingly, 64-47!

Showtime (49) v. Big Game Ballers (85)
Next we have a battle between the youngsters from Showtime versus the defending champions, Big Game Ballers!
This game would have been a great matchup  of the "old champs" and the new "young" challengers...if the guys from Showtime had shown up for the game?! Showtime only had five guys show up and w/o Tyler their lack of size was evident! Dom Williams was their high scorer with 18pts. They were a bit intimidated by the size differential so Showtime was sticking to the 3's in the first half (2-13) but they just weren't falling. They were down at the half, 39-20!
The Big Game Ballers were led by Isaiah Sandoval and Chris "Duke" Adams. Isaiah scored a season best 55pts on 20-29 fgs and Duke had a double-double (12p 11r) and some good commentary that made the stats easier to keep! Lol!
The Ballers won the game easily, 85-49!

SLGHTWRK (47) v. United Nations (57)
Our final game of the day brings the guys from SLGHTWRK versus the first place United Nations squad!
SLGHTWRK had it going with their 5 on 4 advantage in the first quarter. Chris was 5-7 fgs in the first half to score 13 of his team high 17pts and team captain Simon Habtu scored 15pts on 4-8 from 3pt range! They were leading, 31-20 at the half!
The tables turned in the beginning of the second half. Outscoring SLGHTWRK by a score of 37-16! Without their leading scorer, Toby, the United Nations had to find other ways of scoring and they got it from Byron's 29pts and Aaron's double-double (13p 10r)! A special shoutout goes to captain Reed Raspberry, the rarely used guard, contributed a nice floor game (5r 5a 4s) and led his squad to a, 57-47 victory!

Week 4
Average Woes (49) v. Big Game Ballers (92)
We begin Week 4 with a test for the Average Woes as they take on the defending champions, Big Game Ballers!
This would have been a great matchup of 'David v. Goliath' but both teams were missing key players! The Average Woes were missing they're entire starting five (tournament duties). So they were left with 4 players who have never played with each other?! They were led by Joey Farber (20p 8r) and David James (24pts).
The Big Game Ballers on the other hand only had four players as well but the four players they had were very familiar with each other! Jason had a big game scoring 23pts, 6rebs & 9asts and Ryan Wessels (22p 14r) brought the gym to its knees with a rim rattling one handed alley oop slam dunk! That put the game away!
Big Game Ballers went on to win convincingly, 92-49!

Gamble Team (57) v. Balls Out (49)
Next up, we have a battle between two mainstays of TripleDoubleSports when the Gamble Team takes on Balls Out.
The first half played very evenly. Gamble Team put up more shots (26) than Balls Out (19) in the first half, but both teams made nine shots. The Gamble Team took a 4pt lead into the half, 27-23.
Balls Out played the entire game with the bare minimum (5). Theo Ellington led the team in scoring with 21pts and Tenn added 12pts to pace Balls Out. They used the third quarter to trim the lead to 3pts (38-35).
The Gamble Team, however, weren't going to let the game get away from them. With Rich (14pts) and Javon (13pts) steadying the ship for the Gamble Team the game was put away!
The Gamble Team prevailed, 57-49!

United Nations (82) v. Rock Center (84)
The most exciting and controversial game of the day was the undefeated United Nations squad versus the upstart team from Rock Center!
The United Nations started the game off on a bad note. They shot 1-10 from 3pt range in the first quarter! As they fell behind by 7pts early! Behind Toby Merchant 11pt (33pts for the game) first half, the United Nations wet down 32-27 at halftime!
Rock Center led out early! They were taking it to the rack on a regular basis. Taking advantage of their size, they won the rebounding battle, 39-27! Rock Center got a double-double from Jon (22p 12r) and 21pts from Steve.
Then the controversy began. Down by 3pts, Rock Center had the ball in the corner and Denzel rose up and sank the 3 to tie up the game and send it to OT where Rock Center would go on to outscore United Nations by 2, 84-82 F/OT!

Primetime (68) v. SLGHTWRK (57)
The finale of the day has a veteran team, Primetime, taking on a relatively new team, SLGHTWRK!
Primetime took it to SLGHTWRK in the first half! Outscoring them 41-31. Daniel was unstoppable...scoring 13 of his game high 24pts in the first half! Antwan Capla had himself a day! He scored 10pts, pulled down 11rebs and dished out a game high 10asts to give him the first TripleDouble of the season! Salute!
As for SLGHTWRK, they played well! They had a combined 30pts from team captain, Simon (16pts) and from Larry (14pts). Their aggressive play in the second half got them to the line where they prospered. If they put forth that same effort in the first half the game would have been much closer than the 11pt defeat!
Primetime wins, 68-57!

Week 3
United Nations (89) v. Primetime (68)
We kick off Week 3 with a matchup between two teams that have been mainstays of our league, the undefeated United Nations versus Primetime!
The first half was full of non-stop action! Primetime was lead in scoring by Tyrone with 23pts on 11-21 fgs and in rebounding by Daniel who posted a game high 13rebs! They kept the game close in the first half. The halftime score was, 34-31!
The United Nations basically blew the game up in the third quarter! They were unconscious! United Nations shot the ball incredibly in the quarter making their first 12 shots, going a total of 12-13 fgs in the quarter! Outscoring Primetime, 33-14, in the third. Taking a 3pt halftime lead and turning it into a 22pt blowout!
Toby Merchant followed up his 40pt effort last week with a 36pt game and Mac went 8-12fgs for 20pts!

Showtime (57) v. Rock Center (80)
Next game on the docket is a matchup between Rock Center versus the newly formed team, Showtime!
Showtime, coming off two closely played games, came into the game very confident! Tyler Wright had another good game, scoring a team high, 18pts. Rob N. was dishing the rock all around the floor! He had a solid game with a game high 7asts! Showtime was down by two at the half of a very competitive game, 31-29!
Rock Center had a full squad on Sunday, and when they're all there, they're a team to be reckoned with! Steven had a game high, 23pts on 9-15 shooting, and Brett had a day himself! Brett almost had the first TripleDouble in TripleDoubleSports this season, with 14pts, 13rebs and 6asts! They shot a blistering, 13-17 fgs (76%) in the fourth quarter to turn this closely played game into a blowout! The 80-57 doesn't show the tightness of the game.

Gamble Team (73) v. MSO (62)
Next up we present a newly formed team, MSO, versus a seasoned veteran team, Gamble Team!
If this game were to take place on paper the Gamble Team with its size and speed Win's 10 times out of 10! MSO (Most Slept On) had other plans. Ant Dunston (13pts) and Adam Feinberg (14pts) led the way for MSO. The lost the rebounding battle, 41-21, but what they lost in size the won with pure hustle! MSO was just down one, 35-34, at the halftime buzzer!
The score was all knotted up headed to the fourth and final quarter at 52! That's when a light turned on in the heads of Gamble Team and finished the game on a 21-10 run! Lead in scoring by Rich, who scored 24pts an almost perfect 10-11 shooting and he got some help from Alec's huge double-double (19p 14r)!
Gamble Team went on to win, 73-62!

The last game of a shortened schedule brought us the new kids, Average Woes, versus the grizzled veteran squad of Balls Out!
The Average Woes were more than average as the first quarter score will tell you! They jumped out ahead, 22-15! With a 25pt performance from, not your average Joe, Joe Scott! He shot the ball very well for the game (8-12 fgs). Captain Ryan Sera steadied the ship by dishing out 6asts! The score was close going to the half with the Average Woes leading, 35-31!
Balls Out had the size advantage in their favor! Quinn Evans dominated inside with a double-double (19p 11r) and Theo Ellington added 17pts as Balls Out did all they couldn't  keep up with the scrappy Average Woes! In the third quarter the Average Woes keep adding to their advantage outscoring Balls Out, 16-8!
Average Woes went on to defeat the Balls Out team, 69-54!

Open Division Week 2 recaps

Winter Open Division 🏀
Week 2
Balls Out (56) v. Primetime (47)
The second week of the Open Division begins with a battle between Balls Out versus Primetime!
Primetime only had 4 players for the entire game but that didn't stop them from battling until the end! Tyrone (24pts) had a fabulous day with the ball! Going a perfect 7-7 from the field and 7-8 from the line! Daniel had a solid game as well going 14pts, 5rebs and 5asts.
Theo Ellington had an answer for Primetime's scoring! He scored a game high 26pts and Darryl had 6asts! Balls Out took full advantage of Primetime's lack of numbers. Falling into a zone for most of the game with 6'6 Quinn Evans manning the middle! Balls Out would hold on to win the game, 56-47!

Showtime (70) v. United Nations (74)
This game was exciting full of highlights left and right between the United Nations and newcomers Showtime!
Toby Merchant of the United Nations was on fire from the word 'go'! After missing his first three shots, Toby went on to score a game high 40pts! Toby's running mate, AD scored 16pts and added 5asts! Aaron did most of the dirty work for United Nations by grabbing 10rebs!
The United Nations had a 10pt lead at the half, 34-24, but Showtime had a little something left to make this game interesting! Rob (14p 4a), Nate (16p) and Tyler (13p 5r) scraped and clawed their way back in the game with scrappy 'd' and fierce determination to make a game of it!
The United Nations were able to hold on for a, 74-70 victory!

SLGHTWRK (50) v. MSO (52)
Up next, we have a battle of two new teams to the TripleDoubleSports family in SLGHTWRK and MSO!
The first half, both teams were feeling each other out. SLGHTWRK was trailing after the first quarter but were able to rally to even the score up at 18 apiece at halftime. Mike finished the game with a team high 12pts and Josh and Chris both had 11pts.
The second half came and both teams came out firing! MSO (Most Slept On) had 3 players score 11pts (Kwesi Bailey, Zac Grotz and Adam Feinberg). MSO tied up the game at 46 all and then finished the game on an exciting 6-4 run which Adam's "and 1" with less than a minute left was the difference! MSO won, 52-50!

Average Woes (51) v. Gamble Team (45)
The final matchup of the day brought us the Gamble Team taking on newcomers the Average Woes!
The Gamble Team was w/o their team captain, Quez Henderson, so the ball wasn't going to move unless someone would step up. Taking Quez's place as the floor general was, Eric (9r 5a). He was able to find Moody (16pts) and Alec (14pts) all day! Although, they were scoring...they were down at the half, 35-26!
The Average Woes, who had almost their full complement of players, came out of the gates strong! Ares scored 9 of his 11pts all in the first quarter! Prabe manned the middle gobbling up 8rebs. The Average Woes managed the game the rest of the way to win, 51-45!

Asian D2 Final Four/Championship

 🏀 Asian D2 6'2 and Under 🏀

The Asian D2 6'2 and Under league is coming to an end and the Final Four teams have been set! We have the #2 Strokers vs. #3 Splash Kuyas in one semifinal and #1 overall seeded CCU Ambassadors vs. the upset minded #5 Swishers in the other semifinal game!
.
#2 Strokers (39) v. #3 Splash Kuyas (50)
The Strokers and the Splash Kuyas were very evenly matched! Both finished the season with identical 4-2 records and both teams were without a key scorer (Strokers - Adonis Bulanhagui and Splash Kuyas - Jonny Moore)! They (SK) had Chris "CQ" (28pts)  and he was more than enough for them to overcome the Strokers! The game was won with a remarkable second quarter that had them up 18-3! With a late push, by the Strokers in the fourth...it wasn't enough to win! Splash Kuyas win, 50-39! They now await the winner of the other semifinal game, CCU vs. The Swishers!

#1 CCU Ambassadors (51) v. #5 Swishers (63)
The CCU Ambassadors came into their semifinal game with an air of confidence! They played well all season and were on a 3 game winning streak but they were in for a rude awakening because Travis Hom of the Swishers was back off injured reserve (came back last week to be eligible for postseason)! He hit his first two shots (both 3pt) and Kenneth scored 16pts on 6-12 shooting! CCU started off slowly (as per usual). Jeremy Lee scored a game high, 26pts and Jeff secured 10 rebounds but the Swishers never let there foot off of the gas pedal! Scoring 18pts in each of the final two quarters to win going away, 63-51!

#3 Splash Kuyas (42) v. #5 Swishers (47) OT
The championship was set with the two lower seeds upsetting the top two seeds to reach the finals! #3 Splash Kuyas were a slight favorite to beat #5 Swishers. It was a back and forth game with both teams turning on the defense in the second quarter! Chris Q. (19p 8r) and Jessie (10p 3a) kept the Splash Kuyas in the game answering every of the Swishers runs with one of their own! They came back all the way with a shot by Jason T. (4p 11r) that sent the game to overtime!
In the overtime, CQ and Travis continued their duel. Two point shot by CQ answered by a two point shot by Travis! He same happened the next two shots (both three pointers), but that's where it all ended for the Splash Kuyas! A turnaround jumper by Andy (his only made shot of the game) was the deciding bucket! A three pointer by none other than Travis was the final nail in the Splash Kuyas coffin! The Swishers went on to win their first TripleDouble Championship by the score of, 47-42 in overtime! Congratulations to both teams for playing their hearts out! What a game!
