After a week off to honor our mothers, TripleDoubleSports is back in business! We begin the week with an Asian Open battle between GS Threat Matrix and the newly formed Boogie 2.0!
The GS Threat Matrix played well! Their 3-ball, however, wasn't falling. The team shot poorly from distance. They totaled a measly 2-23 3pt (9%)! Matt led the team in scoring with 14pts and Ricci Miles added 13pts! They played great team defense holding Boogie 2.0 to only one player in double figures! Although, the trailed by 4pts at the half 27-23!
Boogie 2.0, a reboot from seasons past, played its first game of the season! They were led by Joe Scott, who was nearly unstoppable, with 33pts & 9rebs! Greg Tang provided the heavy lifting with 13rebs! Their defense really strapped up when it mattered most...the fourth quarter! They held the Matrix to 3-15 fgs (20%) shooting in the final quarter to go away a winner, 54-39!

Next, we have an exciting matchup between two powerhouses! Squadron taking on the Bombtans!
Boom, Boom POW! Best describes the action of the first quarter! Both teams were ready for this heavyweight battle! Led by Jordan Wong (20pts) and Travis Hom (19pts) Squadron led after an exiting first quarter by 1pt, 23-22. Squadron shot 17-33 fgs (52%) from the field in the half but trailed, 43-42, at the half.

Goon Squad (52) v. SFC (60)
Two of our newest teams enter the squared circle as the Goon Squad, who is fresh off the first win, takes on SFC, who is looking for their first "W"!
The Goon Squad came out of the gates strong! They shot 8-14 fgs (57%) from the field in the first quarter! The lead they built, and their shooting, all but disappeared in the second! They scored a measly 4pts the whole quarter shooting 1-9 fgs (11%). Justin scored 15pts and Allan added 13pts to lead the Goon Squad. They were trailing at the half, 35-24!
SFC was as cool as their uniforms! After withstanding the 20pt outburst by the Goon Squad, they counterpunched with a 19-4 point second quarter! Tyler led the way with a double-double (18p 10r)! His dominant play, as well as 4 of his teammates scoring at least 7pts, was enough to lead the SFC to their first, of hopefully many, wins for them. The final score was, 60-52!

Division 2
Bulls (66) v. Rock Center (46)
The Bulls and Rock Center look to follow up on their victory with another as they meet up with each other in what on paper looks to be a great matchup!
Rock Center started off this "big" game slowly. Rock Center was only able to shoot 2-8 fgs (25%) to begin the game! Their shooting improved by quarter (40% 2nd; 43% 3rd; and 60% 4th quarters). Their leading scorer was Jay, who scored 17pts, and captain Cris Pineda chipped in with 11pts! They were trailing at the half, 25-18.
Wai and the rest of the Bulls proved to be too much for Rock Center to handle on this day! The Bulls added onto their lead in each of the quarters. Led by, the aforementioned Wai, who lead his team in all statistical categories (25p 12r 5a 2s 3b)! They went on to win the game handily, 66-46!

Beastion (44) v. Prodigies (55)
Two old friends of TripleDoubleSports come into this next matchup! Beastion, led by captain Tony Yu, take on the Prodigies, who is lead by Torrent Lee!
Beastion showed some teeth as they jumped out to a 19-10 lead after one quarter! Led by Phil who scored 13 of the teams 19 first quarter points! The store was closed in the 2nd and 3rd quarters! They could only score 6pts in each of the next two quarters and the 9pt advantage turned into a 10pts deficit after the third! The halftime score was close, 26-25!
The Prodigies started off a bit slow, but I guess it takes a while for these guys to heat up their engines (believe me fellas...I'm old too!). Heat up their engines is what they did! Led by, Sean Caiola (game high 18pts) and Mike (14pts) the Prodigies slowly overtook Beastion and their 9pt lead! They went on to win the game, 55-44!

SC Threat Matrix (42) v. Saints (50)
The SC Threat Matrix take their .500 record into battle against the winless (0-2) Saints team!
The SC Threat Matrix (Santa Cruz aka the Warriors farm team) started the game off strong. Holding their opponent to 4-19 fgs (21%) in the first half! Josh led the way with 17pts and Chris added 10pts for Beastion. They were playing well on the defensive end and adequately on offense to give them a, 19-12 lead at the half!
The second half was all Saints! The 7pt halftime deficit was completely turned around by the Saints! What got into Jon? Is a question you could be asking yourself! Whatever it was he should do more of it! After being shutout the first half, he went onto score a game high 19pts in the second half! His 19pts along with Mike Lim's 12pts were enough to overcome the Matrix lead and win their first of the season, 50-42!
