Bombtans (67) v. Boogie 2.0 (68)
We start off Week 4 of TripleDoubleSports with the best game of the season, so far! A couple of unbeatens square off as the Bombtans take on Boogie 2.0!
A tight game throughout, the Bombtans took the early lead. With just 5 players for the game, the Bombtans shot 8-12 fgs (67%) in the first quarter giving them an early 22-17 lead! Wai led all scorers with 30pts on 11-20 fgs (55%) and Moe contributed with his "ho-hum" double-double (13p 14r)! Although , the Bombtans had a good first half they only led at the half by one point, 36-35!
Boogie 2.0 was playing from behind most of the game but they kept the game close. Prabe's double-double (12p & 12r) cancelled out the game Moe had on the other side! It was fierce inside! A real man's game! Boogie trailed by 2pts going into the final period! That when Rebo slowed up with his shooting and nice passing. He had 8pts and a couple of nice dimes in the fourth!
With the game tied at 65 apiece Wai got the ball at the top of the key a drove left and payed the ball up with 2.2 secs remaining...but Boogie still had a chance! Boogie inbounded the ball directly to Edwin (who had a team high 18pts), having 2.2 secs he quickly made his move to his left shoulder and made a hook shot...and 1! Boogie went on to win the game, 68-67! Wow, what a game!

GS Threat Matrix (60) v. Knights (46)
Next on the docket we have the battle between two teams looking to get in the win column when the GS Threat Matrix taking on the Knights!
The Knights pretty much had to struggle to put points on the board! Without Tye, who had a game high 25pts & 11rebs, the Knights shot a measly 9-34 fgs (26%)! Not to mention PG TK went down midway through the second quarter with an apparent foot injury! Our prayers go out to TK for a speedy recovery. They were down 20pts, 37-17 going into halftime!
GS Threat Matrix were putting on a show! They were moving the ball around with ease. The looked like the Dubs on this day! Four of the six players that suited up scored in double figures! Leading the way was Webb with 18pts (could've had more but the free throw line was his Achilles heel...0-7 from the line) and Billy's 13pts & 7rebs! The Threat Matrix lost 6pts from their halftime lead to go on to win handily, 60-46!

Beastion (46) v. Saints (53)
Now on to our Asian Division 2! We open with a matchup between an old friend of the league, Beastion, versus a new team this season, The Saints!
Beastion started off the game playing great defense! They held the Saints to 5-17 fgs (29%) in the first quarter. Ty and Gordon each scored 13pts to lead the team. Although, Beastion played superb defense in the first half (12-33 fgs 36%) they trailed by a single point, 29-28!
The Saints began the second half a bit lethargic. Giving up their lead and trailed going into the fourth by a point. Jon led all scorers with 23pts and David chipped in with a double-double, 13pts & 11rebs! Mike Lim came through in the fourth quarter with 3-4 fgs shooting and 7 huge points! The Saints were able to hold Beastion to 9pts in each of the final two quarters and went on to a 53-46 victory!

SC Threat Matrix (50) v. Rock Center (41)
Coming up next is the SC Threat Matrix up against a new team in the league Rock Center!
Rock Center was a bit short handed on this day. They started the game with just 4 players but managed to have a 2pt lead after the first quarter! Their fifth player showed up at the end of the quarter. Jay showed up with a game high, 20pts & 5stls on 7-20 fgs! Rock Center was down at halftime, 18-15!
SC Threat Matrix played evenly through the third quarter but they took over in the fourth quarter. Mike Lin scored a team high 13pts, snatched 12rebs and came through with a huge 5blks! Chris Knight added 10pts & 8rebs as the Threat Matrix went on to win a closely battled game, 50-46!

Putties (46) v. Dawgs (61)
Now a matchup between two old nemesis and old friends of TripleDoubleSports in the Putties and the Dawgs
The Putties were in for a challenge versus the former two time champs but they were up for it! They put up a good fight in the first half. Trailing by only 3pts at the half. Behind leading scorer Iggy with 14pts and a pair of 11pt games from JMac and Matt Lai! They went into the half down, 23-20.
The Dawgs were more aggressive than the Putties. The loose balls and rebounds were all bouncing to the Dawgs! The rebounding battle was won by the Dawgs, 44-23! The Dawgs really busted the game open in the third quarter with an astounding, 27-12 period! John James filled up the stat sheet with 13pts, 8rebs, 5asts and 3stls as the Dawgs went on to win the game, 61-46!

SF Braves (57) v. Swishers (72)
The SF Braves face off against the Swishers in the conclusion of our day here at TDS!
The SF Braves had a little attendance issue that kind of got under the skin of team captain, Tone Arce! He was upset with the guys on his team that didn't even call him to tell him they weren't going to show up! They went ahead and played anyways but the Swishers were not the team to play with on this day! James Aragon came through with 24pts & 4asts for the depleted SF Braves squad!
The Swishers weren't feeling sorry for the SF Braves one bit! They smelled blood in the water and went for the kill early! They led after the first quarter 26-12 behind Dorian's 5-7 3pt shooting! Dorian Sun led all scorers with 30pts on 11-20 fgs (55%)! The Swishers had a huge 14pt lead after one quarter and went on to outscore the SF Braves, 46-45 the rest of the way! The Swishers won the game comfortably, 72-57!

Week 3
Asian Open
GS Threat Matrix (39) v. Boogie 2.0 (54)
After a week off to honor our mothers, TripleDoubleSports is back in business! We begin the week with an Asian Open battle between GS Threat Matrix and the newly formed Boogie 2.0!
The GS Threat Matrix played well! Their 3-ball, however, wasn't falling. The team shot poorly from distance. They totaled a measly 2-23 3pt (9%)! Matt led the team in scoring with 14pts and Ricci Miles added 13pts! They played great team defense holding Boogie 2.0 to only one player in double figures! Although, the trailed by 4pts at the half 27-23!
Boogie 2.0, a reboot from seasons past, played its first game of the season! They were led by Joe Scott, who was nearly unstoppable, with 33pts & 9rebs! Greg Tang provided the heavy lifting with 13rebs! Their defense really strapped up when it mattered most...the fourth quarter! They held the Matrix to 3-15 fgs (20%) shooting in the final quarter to go away a winner, 54-39!

Squadron (71) v. Bombtans (87)
Next, we have an exciting matchup between two powerhouses! Squadron taking on the Bombtans!
Boom, Boom POW! Best describes the action of the first quarter! Both teams were ready for this heavyweight battle! Led by Jordan Wong (20pts) and Travis Hom (19pts) Squadron led after an exiting first quarter by 1pt, 23-22. Squadron shot 17-33 fgs (52%) from the field in the half but trailed, 43-42, at the half.
The Bombtans (combination of Bomb Squad and the Spartans) came out on FIRE! The scored no less the 18pts in a quarter and they saved their highest output for the fourth (26)! The high man was John Mayuga who scored a game high, 29pts on 10-13 fgs! Wai (22pts & 11rebs) and Mo (19pts & 12rebs) helped out by both posting double-doubles! They ran away with the game by outscoring Squadron, 26-14, in the fourth quarter! Bombtans went on to win, 87-71!

Goon Squad (52) v. SFC (60)
Two of our newest teams enter the squared circle as the Goon Squad, who is fresh off the first win, takes on SFC, who is looking for their first "W"!
The Goon Squad came out of the gates strong! They shot 8-14 fgs (57%) from the field in the first quarter! The lead they built, and their shooting, all but disappeared in the second! They scored a measly 4pts the whole quarter shooting 1-9 fgs (11%). Justin scored 15pts and Allan added 13pts to lead the Goon Squad. They were trailing at the half, 35-24!
SFC was as cool as their uniforms! After withstanding the 20pt outburst by the Goon Squad, they counterpunched with a 19-4 point second quarter! Tyler led the way with a double-double (18p 10r)! His dominant play, as well as 4 of his teammates scoring at least 7pts, was enough to lead the SFC to their first, of hopefully many, wins for them. The final score was, 60-52!

Division 2
Bulls (66) v. Rock Center (46)
The Bulls and Rock Center look to follow up on their victory with another as they meet up  with each other in what on paper looks to be a great matchup!
Rock Center started off this "big" game slowly. Rock Center was only able to shoot 2-8 fgs (25%) to begin the game! Their shooting improved by quarter (40% 2nd; 43% 3rd; and 60% 4th quarters). Their leading scorer was Jay, who scored 17pts, and captain Cris Pineda chipped in with 11pts! They were trailing at the half, 25-18.
Wai and the rest of the Bulls proved to be too much for Rock Center to handle on this day! The Bulls added onto their lead in each of the quarters. Led by, the aforementioned Wai, who lead his team in all statistical categories (25p 12r 5a 2s 3b)! They went on to win the game handily, 66-46!

Beastion (44) v. Prodigies (55)
Two old friends of TripleDoubleSports come into this next matchup! Beastion, led by captain Tony Yu, take on the Prodigies, who is lead by Torrent Lee!
Beastion showed some teeth as they jumped out to a 19-10 lead after one quarter! Led by Phil who scored 13 of the teams 19 first quarter points! The store was closed in the 2nd and 3rd quarters! They could only score 6pts in each of the next two quarters and the 9pt advantage turned into a 10pts deficit after the third! The halftime score was close, 26-25!
The Prodigies started off a bit slow, but I guess it takes a while for these guys to heat up their engines (believe me fellas...I'm old too!). Heat up their engines is what they did! Led by, Sean Caiola (game high 18pts) and Mike (14pts) the Prodigies slowly overtook Beastion and their 9pt lead! They went on to win the game, 55-44!

SC Threat Matrix (42) v. Saints (50)
The SC Threat Matrix take their .500 record into battle against the winless (0-2) Saints team!
The SC Threat Matrix (Santa Cruz aka the Warriors farm team) started the game off strong. Holding their opponent to 4-19 fgs (21%) in the first half! Josh led the way with 17pts and Chris added 10pts for Beastion. They were playing well on the defensive end and adequately on offense to give them a, 19-12 lead at the half!
The second half was all Saints! The 7pt halftime deficit was completely turned around by the Saints! What got into Jon? Is a question you could be asking yourself! Whatever it was he should do more of it! After being shutout the first half, he went onto score a game high 19pts in the second half! His 19pts along with Mike Lim's 12pts were enough to overcome the Matrix lead and win their first of the season, 50-42!

The Division 1 season kicks off with the debut of two new teams! The collaboration of last seasons Bomb Squad and Spartans, forming the "Bombtans" (I mean what else would they be called?) Lol! Taking on the Bombtans on this day would be the new and improved Knights (a combo of the Eagles and Boogie).
The Knights started the game of trying to find the right combination of players to defeat the Bombtans. The coach, Kel, relied heavily on Jovelle! He led all scorers with 23pts (8-14 fgs), while TK added 12pts for the Knights. The score, however, did not go to their advantage as they were down, 40-32 at the half.
Meanwhile, the Bombtans gelled together rather quickly. With the 1-2 punch of Mo and Wai. Each player scored 20pts to lead the squad. Big Mo added 14rebs to go along with his points for a gargantuan double-double! This team was on point from the jump and laid out a warning for the rest of the league to watch out! They went on to win the game, 84-69!

Goon Squad (57) v. GS Threat Matrix (50)
The next matchup was between two newly formed teams as the Goon Squad took on GS Threat Matrix!
I asked captain Chris Knight what the meaning behind GS Threat Matrix was and he told me that the GS stood for Golden State and the SC Threat Matrix, their D2 team, stood for Santa Cruz! Made more sense to me. The Matrix went into this battle w/o their leading scorer from last season but Chris (12pts) and Tyler (11pts) try to carry the load. Unfortunately for the Matrix their offense was a miss in the first half digging themselves into a hole, 28-13, after the first half of play.
The Goon Squad was lad into the game by their team captain, Christian Sami. He played for another team last season but was so impressed by TDS that he decided to form a team mostly friends from high school! Two of those friends were Justin Tuason, who went for a double-double (18p 10r) and Allan Santos who also scored a game high 18pts!
They were outscored in the second half by 10pts but managed to hold onto the lead, 57-50!

Squadron (65) v. SFC (49)
The last game of the day was the Squadron taking on a team that is new to TripleDoubleSports, SFC!
SFC is new to TDS this season but they have heard good things about the league and have been wanting to join a TripleDoubleSports league for a while now! Their first test would be Squadron! They came out of the gates shot for shot. At the end of the first quarter the score was all knotted up at 14 apiece! SFC hit a roadblock and couldn't find the hoop in the second quarter only scoring 6pts! They trailed at the half, 33-20!
A seasoned team like the Squadron took full advantage of SFC's shooting woes! Lengthening their lead in the third to 20pts! Behind efforts from Dorian Sun (scored a game high 22pts) and Jordan (17pts) the Squadron held on in the fourth and final quarter to win the game handily, 65-49!

Division 2
SF Braves (63) v. Prodigies (78)
The second week for D2 starts off with the SF Braves and a long time TripleDoubleSports team, the Prodigies who have taken a couple of leagues off but are now back looking for their rightful place atop the standings!
The SF Braves led into battle behind their leader, Tone Arce, tried to build off their first weeks win with another great performance. MJ (#33) led the Braves in scoring with 16pts and Big Nelson showed off his feathery touch by connecting on 3-3pt shots in the second quarter alone! The Braves shot 11-33 fgs (33%) in the first half but managed to stay in the game only trailing by 10pts, 39-29!
The Prodigies are back after a little lay off! They are older but they still play well as a team! Q. Wu led the way for the Prodigies with 23pts & 4asts while Barry Lee added 15pts. Their lead was down to 4pts at 52-48 beginning the fourth. They managed to hold on for the win by shooting 7-11 fgs (64%) in the final quarter! The final score, 78-63!

SC Threat Matrix (45) v. Putties (39)
The Putties have returned for another go at it and this season they are facing a new team, the SC Threat Matrix!
JMac has come back to TripleDoubleSports (eyebrow raise)! After missing the first week, the captain has resurfaced to lead the Putties into battle! Jason Lee had a great game! Notching a double-double (16p 10r)! "You live by the 3...you die by the 3!" They shot it a measly 3-12 (25%) in the first half but were only down by a single point at the half, 19-18!
The SC Threat Matrix (SC stands for Santa Cruz) showed a lot of heart! The Matrix lengthened their lead in the third quarter to 6pts, by outscoring the Putties 14-9! Led by Nick Knight scoring 8 of his game high 18pts in the period! It was a hard fought fourth and final quarter but the Matrix were able to hold on to the lead and win, 45-39!

Rock Center (53) v. Saints (49)
Two newly formed teams are next up as Rock Center (w/ Cris Pineda at the helm) took on Mike Lim's Saints squad!
The Saints are a new team formed by Mike Lim! The Saints were trying to climb out of a hole that they built by losing the first quarter, 23-11! They lost the first and third quarters by a combined score of, 45-27, but they won the second and fourth quarters, 22-8! Behind the scoring of Lamar (13pts) and Mike (12pts) the Saints managed to keep the game close! They were trailing at the half, 27-20!
Rock Center a staple of our Open League tried their hand at the Asian League this season! Their first game at this level was inconsistent, to say the least. They allowed the Saints chance after chance by missing, of all things, FREE THROWS! As a team, they shot a miserable 4-12 fts (33%)! It was Jay to the rescue! He shot the ball well (10-12 fgs 83%) scoring a game high, 26pts and Darius had 4asts to go along with his 15pts! The game was a lot closer than the stats show! Despite the woes at the free throw line, Rock Center went onto win, 53-49!

Bulls (73) v. Dawgs (70)
The next matchup belongs to the Bulls and former champions, the Dawgs!
The Dawgs came out of the gates strong! They showed the meaning of "team"! They had 5 different players score a field goal in the first quarter! The Dawgs had the ball moving around like the Warriors! Bryan Petroni scored a double-double with 15pts & 10rebs and Mark came through with a team high 16pts. Although they started the game strong, they ended up trailing at the half, 34-32!
For the Bulls, they started the game slowly. With only Antonio (13pts) scoring in the quarter. The Bulls extended their lead in the third period by outscoring the Dawgs, 23-13!  Behind the play of Wai (11-13 fgs), the Bulls opened up the game!
The Dawgs made a run in the fourth quarter but ran out of time! The Bulls won by the final score of, 73-70!

Saints (73) v. Swishers (75)
Division 2 concluded the day with a good one! The Saints and the Swishers round out the day for TripleDoubleSports in a barn burner!
The Saints, just coming off of a close game, had yet another one in their battle versus last season's champs! The Saints jumped out ahead to an early lead, 18-12, after the first quarter! Jon scored 10 of his game high 29pts in the first half and Dave came through with a big double-double, 18pts & 14rebs! The score was knotted up at 33 apiece at the half!
The Swishers matched every basket with a basket! The champs showed their championship pride as they never gave into the barrage of points scored by the Saints! Team captain, Steven Tom, scored a season high 22pts and Dorian came up with 16pts to play as the dynamic duo! They were down by a point, 54-53, going into the fourth and final quarter! Big 3's by Dorian and Andy Put the game out of reach as the Swishers came back to win, 75-73, in a tight contest!

Spring Season Asian D2
🏀Week 1
S.C. Threat Matrix (40) v. Dawgs (42)
TripleDoubleSports is back and we start with a division 2 battle versus newcomers, S.C. Threat Matrix taking on a TDS former champion, Dawgs!
Both teams started the game with nobody on either bench! The SC Threat Matrix had a couple of late comers arrive that helped the cause. "Flash" Gordon led his team in scoring with 15pts and Chris Knight posted a double-double with 11pts & 10rebs! The 2017 version of "Big" Ben came through with 16rebs! It was a close one at the half. Threat Matrix trailed by 1pt, 20-19!
The Dawgs were without their two main Dawgs (Bryan and Dez). They played the entire game with just 5 players but they were ready for the challenge! They managed to double their lead in the third quarter to 4pts, 30-26! Led by a game high 16pts from Daniel V. and 11pts from Kiyoshi, the Dawgs scraped and clawed their way the entire game! They held onto the lead and squeezed out a 2pt victory, 42-40!
A great, competitive contest to start the TDS season!

Swishers (67) v. Beastion (43)
The Swishers are back to try to defend their title from a season ago and first on their list was Beastion!
Beastion has some new players this season because the Knight bros broke off and formed their own team but the core of the team is the same as last season with a couple of new additions! Those two additions paid immediate benefits! As Gordon scored a game high, 19pts, and Web chipped in with, 8pts! Even with the boost the two new players, Beastion was down at the half, 29-23.
The Swishers came into this game still on a high from last seasons championship! Dorian (17pts) and Rob (12pts) led the way for the Swishers. There was a revolving door substation that the Swishers employed that kept them fresh throughout the game. With that they proved too much to handle for Beastion, as they went on to win handily, 67-43!

Putties (43) v. SF Braves (79)
After a couple of seasons off, the SF Braves have returned to try and seek their first TDS championship as they face off against the Putties!
The Putties were without some of their key players (Jmac, Matt and Clif Szeto) but they were up for the game! The uphill struggle started almost immediately! They were led in scoring by Iggy with 12pts and Jason Lee added 7pts before leaving the game with a back injury. They were down, 32-17!
The SF Braves we're back in TDS after taking a couple of seasons off. They reloaded their roster with a couple of new pieces! Greg led the way with a game high, 29pts! He scored 18pts in the second half alone. Another addition was point guard, Brandon Mamaradlo, who dished out 5asts! The SF Braves went on to win, 79-43!
