Asian D1 - Week 1 recaps

🏀Winter Asian 6'2 and Under D1 Recaps🏀
Week 1
Eagles (44) v. Go Get It (68)
Another season of TripleDoubleSports has begun! We kick off the season with two former champions in Go Get It taking on the Eagles!
The Eagles started off with just 5 players!? They were without Arj and Quez, so needless to say they were going to start the season battling! The first quarter began slowly for the Eagles scoring just 7pts but the second quarter they found their groove by scoring 16pts on 6-13 fgs shooting. Led by Drew Faro's game high 21pts! Drawing them closer at the half, 28-23!
Go Get It came out after the break on fire! They shot 10-21 fgs (48%) in the third quarter to completely take control of the game! Goof (15pts) and Brandon (12pts) led the team in scoring and JRock and Mike had a game high 4 steals each! They finished the game on a 17-14 run as Go Get It went to win, 68-44!

Threat Matrix (49) v. CCU Ambassadors (34)
Next up on the docket is a battle between a new team (made up of members of Beastion), Threat Matrix and a team that took a season off in the CCU Ambassadors!
Welcome back to CCU Ambassadors! They're team was missing their leading scorer from last season (Jeremy Lee) but Jeff and Willie hoped to carry the scoring for CCU! They were down 14-12 after the first quarter but the following two quarters the bottom fell out?! They were only able to score 6pts! They shot a horrific 2-23 fgs (9%) in the two quarters combined! After the 3rd quarter CCU built themselves a major hill to climb...trailing 46-18!
Threat Matrix was ready to start the season off well! Scoring 14pts in each of the first two quarters and led at the half, 28-14! Ricci scored a game high 21pts and a team high 5stls! Justin was holding it down on the inside with 3 huge blocks! The energy that Threat Matrix played with was on high and it was too much for CCU to handle! Threat Matrix won the game, 49-34!

Bulls (48) v. Hapanese (46) F/OT
TripleDoubleSports would like to welcome another new team to our family, the Bulls! For their first test they will face the Hapanese squad!
Hapanese showed off their dominance in the first half! Ryan Sera scored 12 of his 21pts and newcomer Brett scored 9pts in the first half. Hapanese was shooting the ball well! They were 10-20 fgs (50%)! Taking a 30-15 lead at the break!
The Bulls were in the hole but it was their perseverance that got them back in the game! Behind Joe's double-double (18p 12r) and Daniel's 11pt performance brought the team all the way back to tie the game at 44 and sent it into overtime!
In OT, both teams were a bit off!? Hapanese went 1-5 fgs and the Bulls were 1-3 fgs but they were a bit more aggressive. They went to the line 6 times making just 2 but that was enough for the victory...48-46!

Spartans (59) v. Squadron (48)
The fourth and final game on this opening weekend happened when two veteran teams squared off in the Spartans and Squadron!
The Spartans, who took last season off, started the game off well...shooting 8-12 fgs (67%) for 20pts! Ralph scored 15pts & 5rebs and Errol led the team with a game high 16pts! The Spartans kept the pressure on as they held Squadron to 13 first half points! Going on to lead at the half, 31-13!
Maybe the game started too early for Squadron...because they came out like gang busters in the second half! Travis scored 11 of his 13pts and Justin scored all of his 13pts after the break! The won, the second half, 35-28! Their resilient play of the Squadron team gave them hope that this season is not lost! "We'll be alright!" said, Travis Hom. I believe him!
