SFC (48) v. Bombtans (66)
The Asian Open Division of TripleDoubleSports is in our last week of the regular season and there's couple of things still to be decided! First, there was a battle for 2nd place. With first place already decided...the Bombtans and SFC had to duke it out for second!
SFC, in their first season in TDS, had just 6 players suit up for today's contest. They were in for a challenge. They came out shooting very well, making 7-10 fgs (70%) in the first quarter! Led by 17pts from Scott and 15pts & 9rebs from KJ! SFC led at the half by the slimmest of margins, 31-30!
The Bombtans were without the big, bruising Mo, but the rest of the team came out today! They played a real team game today! Their leaders all had game highs for the day: Wai 23pts, Henry 12rebs and Nick 5asts! Each knowing what role to play made it easy! Nick and Wai each scored 8pts in the fourth quarter to propel the Bombtans to victory, 66-48!

GS Threat Matrix (64) v. Knights (69)
This next matchup was a battle of 'David v. Goliath'! Although the size advantage was definitely in favor of the Knights...the teamwork was definitely on the side of the GS Threat Matrix!
The GS Threat Matrix had its usual suspects leading the way for them! Tyler's long range accuracy was something to behold! He was 9-15 3pt (60%) range for the day! That was what kept the Threat Matrix in the game! Rocco's double-double (12pts & 12rebs) didn't hurt either! Although they were scoring well, the size difference was too much! They were down at the half, 33-27!
The Knights are having a horrible season thus far. To top it off, they only had 4 players show up for the game! The 4 players that did show put in work! They were led by Ant Navarrete, who had a game high 29pts, and Jovelle's 16pts & a game high 5asts! Even the "shortest" player (6'2") Matt Szeto led the team with 15rebs!
With all of that, they had to overcome the shooting of Tyler who hit three after three in the fourth quarter! The Knights held off the Threat Matrix, 69-64! For their first victory of the season!

Goon Squad (0) v. Squadron (10)
The Goon Squad left their team Captain hanging when they didn't show up for their game versus the Squadron team! Here's to hoping they do show up for the playoffs in a couple of weeks...

🏀Division 2
#10 Putties (65) v. #7 Rock Center (61)
The playoffs have begun for our Division 2 and we are starting off with our first of two "Wildcard" games! The #10 Putties go into battle taking on our #7th seeded, Rock Center!
Rock Center, coming off a disappointing loss, came into this game rejuvenated! JC led the way early with two 3pt shots and helped put the Putties in an early hole, but fouls were troublesome! JC finished with 14pts and the team high came from Jay who had 23pts! Even though they had such a great start to the game, Rock Center was down at halftime, 35-33!
The Putties, Jason Lee had himself a game to remember! He scored a career high, 40pts! Scoring 10pts in each quarter to score his 40pts! You could tell that he put everything he had in this game, because he was exhausted every time he was taken out of the game (which wasn't very often)! He couldn't do it by himself, as hard as he tried, JLee needed an accomplice! JMac answered the call. Coming through with 15pts to help in the aide of the Putties! They would hold off Rock Center's mad dash at the end to win, 65-61! On to the next round!

#8 SC Threat Matrix (48) v. #9 Beastion (55)
Our second "Wildcard" game in the first round of our Spring Division 2 league pitts the SC Threat Matrix taking on "big brother" Beastion!
The SC Threat Matrix had a good inaugural season of TripleDoubleSports! They kind of switched up their plan of attack. Relying on the deep ball (2-14 3pt range, 14%) proved to be costly. They featured a balanced scoring attack with 3 players in double figure scoring. Led by Josh (13pts) and Chris (12pts)! Nick joined the party and came thru with a double-double (10pts & 13rebs)! They were down at the half, 26-19!
Beastion, was the 'big brother' to SC Threat Matrix because they were one team last season, played well. Just like the season before...they a ho-hum regular season and faced an opponent in the first round of the playoffs that they were evenly matched with. Beastion had their version of the "Big 3" show up for this game! Ty (14pts) and Web (12pts) took care of the scoring and London did the dirty work (10rebs, 5asts and 2blks)! They would go on to win, 55-48!

#3 Dawgs (56) v. #6 Saints (42)
Since the two "Wildcard" games have been played we will continue the day with our first round of playoffs! We begin with the the #3 seeded Dawgs taking on the #6 Saints!
The Saints in their first league together as a team brought all they could to this matchup! They just couldn't score!? Well, not enough... Jon was the leading scorer with 13pts but nobody else could score more than 7pts!? As a team, they shot a combined 14-46 fgs (30%) and 3-12 3pt (25%) from behind the arc! The Saints were down, 26-17 at the half.
Meanwhile, the Dawgs were going about their way like this was a job! Taking every shot and every possession seriously! They shot a workmans-like, 21-44 fgs (48%) but they struggled from behind the line shooting only 2-12 3pt (17%). Led by Kiyoshi (14pts) and Dez (12pts), the Dawgsfinished off the Saints by outscoring them, 16-8, in the fourth and final quarter to win, 56-42!
Captain Mike Lim vowed that they would return next season saying, "It was fun! We'll be back!" See you then!

#1 Prodigies (83) v. #10 Putties (65)
The next matchup was between the #1 seeded and undefeated Prodigies squad taking on the #10 seeded Putties, who had dispatched #7 seed Rock Center in an upset previously in the day.
It didn't look like the Putties had their legs under them?! They relied on the deep ball to no avail! They shot more than half their total shots (26) from behind the arc! Jason Lee, the hero of game one, used up all of his magic in the first game but still managed to have a game high, 24pts. JMac also played
well, going 7-17 fgs (41%) for his 20pts! With JLee and JMac hitting for 20+, the Putties were down at the half, 46-26!
The Prodigies explosion in the first half kind of put the Putties in a hole...a deep hole! Sean Caiola led his team in: points (22), rebounds (7), assists (7) and steals (2)! A great all-around game! Arj Santos came through with 18pts. The Prodigies shot the ball extremely well for the game! Hitting on 30-56 fgs (54%)! They went on to win the game, 83-65!

#2 Swishers (63) v. #9 Beastion (45)
The second of our two "Wildcard" winners were the Beastion! Their prize in the second round was the #2 seeded Swishers!
Beastion started the game off shooting the ball badly?! They were 2-15 fgs (13%) in the first quarter! Their shooting percentage went up in the second quarter but it was still on the low side (6-20 fgs, 30%). Phil led the way for Beastion with 14pts and Gordon backed him up scoring 10pts! As you can imagine, shooting 23%, they were lucky to be only down by 16pts, 39-23!
The Swishers were ready for this matchup! They outscored Beastion in every quarter adding to their lead! Sharpshooter Dorian Sun led the Swishers with 19pts on 7-17 fgs (41%). Double-doubles by Mikey (10pts & 11rebs) and Travis Hom (11pts & 11rebs) sealed the victory for the Swishers. They shot 24-48 fgs (50%) for the game and went on to win, 63-45!

#4 Bulls (67) v. #5 SF Braves (65)
The last game of the First Round of the D2 playoffs was...you know how they say, "Save the best for last..." well we did! As the #4 seeded Bulls took on #5 seeded SF Braves!
The SF Braves came into this game on a high note. Winning their previous game by 24pts! Evan came up big with 22pts shooting 5-11 3pt (45%) range along with 11rebs! The shot a mere 10-30 fgs (33%) in the first half! They were trailing going into the second half, 38-26!
The Bulls, meanwhile, were cruising though three quarters! Everything was going their way. Wai led the Bulls in scoring with 24pts on 10-16 fgs (63%) shooting! After three quarters the Bulls led, 55-41! They appeared to be heading towards an easy victory...key word being "appeared".
Because the SF Braves, led by 7 fourth quarter points by Brandon Mamaradlo, weren't done! They started the fourth down by 14pts and little by little chipped away at the lead that at one point looked insurmountable! The Bulls lead was carved down to 2pts, but Jayson Dizon sealed the game with 2 free throws to hold on, 67-65!
