🏀Week 5 recaps
Asian Open
Boogie 2.0 (69) v. Squadron (58)
Another week of #TripleDoubleSports is in the books and the cream is rising to the top! We have the undefeated Boogie 2.0 team taking on Squadron!
Squadron was missing a few pieces but they were game. Newcomer, Aki lead the way for Squadron with 15 of his game high 30pts in the first half but his teammates, usually reliable scorers, were a bit off. Squadron shot it at a 26% clip (7-27 fgs) and trailed at the half, 27-22!
Boogie 2.0 came up big in the third quarter, or should I say Rebo came up big! He scored 15pts in the third and Joe Scott scored 9 of his 18pts in the fourth! They kept Squadron at arms length for the entire game. They shot a blistering 64% from the field (16-25 fgs) in the second half to close out the Squadron, 69-58!

Boogie 2.0 (58) v. Knights (53)
On the heels of their victory, the Boogie 2.0 team faces off with the Knights and again puts their undefeated status to a test!
The Knights had only 5 players for the entire game...but they were the right 5 players to have! They took on the Boogie squad who in all circumstances were at full strength! The Boogie team shot the ball well from 2pt (22-37 fgs 59%) but poorly from long distance (4-19 3pt 21%)! Which was the opposite for the Knights (2pt 7-15 fgs; 8-25 3pt).
Boogie 2.0 led at the half, 33-25! Behind a game high 17pts from Rebo and a double-double from Edwin (15p 12r)!
The Knights made a late run in the final period behind a pair of 13pt performances from Adonis (score keeper extraordinaire) and Jovelle. They had their chance! It shows the importance of free throws! They were 13-20 fts (65%) for the game! They cut the lead to 3pts but that was as close as they would've gotten! Boogie wins their second game of the day, 58-53!

Bombtans (53) v. GS Threat Matrix (64)
This next game could remind one of an old story of the Battle of David and Goliath! When the Bombtans take on GS Threat Matrix...but which is which?
The Bombtans were almost at full strength (minus PG Nick Wong), but they thought that they had enough to win! Wai (14pts) and John (16pts) were the teams leading scorers and Mo chipped in his double-double with 12pts & 11rebs! They led at the half, 36-32!
For GS Threat Matrix, they shot the ball well for 4 quarters! With the third quarter being their best! In that quarter, they were 9-14 fgs (64%)! That third quarter they outscored the Bombtans, 22-9! Tyler hit 3-3pt shots and Justin scored 9pts in that quarter!
The Bombtans only had 17pts in the whole second half of the game on 8-25 fgs (32%)! The Matrix took full advantage and won the game in an upset, 64-53!

Goon Squad (57) v. SFC (80)
In the last matchup of the day for our Asian Open, pits the 1-2 Goon Squad taking on the 2-2 SFC team!
The Goon Squad came into this game without two of their big guns (Sami and Justin Tuason). Evan (21pts) and Carlo (15pts) tried to carry the team. They shot the ball well in the first half, 9-19 fgs (47%), but were trailing 39-32 at the half!
The SFC team was on fire from the jump! They are a team that goes 11 deep (more than any other team). They are gelling at the right point in the season! Led by JT, with a game high 25pts, and Tyler's 14pts, SFC was  unstoppable! They shot 30-57 fgs (53%) including 8-18 3pt (44%)! Scoring at least 19pts in each of the 4 quarters! They outscored the Goon Squad 41-25 in the second half! To go on to win comfortably, 80-57!

🏀Division 2
We had some excitement in our Division 2! Starting with the Putties battling a young Rock Center team!
The Putties were ready for this game! They had a full squad (minus JMac). They were hoping the long ball would work for them, but they only shot 4-14 3pt (29%) and 1-11 3pts (9%) in the second half! Jason Lee led the way for the Putties with 18pts and Matt Szeto showed up today and gave his squad 15 hard nosed points. They were down going into the second half, 27-22!
Rock Center played well! They did all the little things. They were quicker to all the loose balls and most importantly they hit their free throws (16-21 fts - 76%). Jay was the games high scorer with 24pts including 10-12 fts! Darius came through for Rock Center with a double-double, 11pts & 11rebs! The free throw line was really good to Rock Center, every time the Putties got close, Rock Center would end up on the line! They closed out the game, where else, the free throw line! Rock Center would go on to win a close game, 54-46!

Putties (43) v. Beastion (39)
The Putties go into this, their second game of the day, versus Beastion. Both teams limped into this contest with one 'W' between the two of them!
Beastion came out stumbling out off the gates. Only scoring 5pt in the first quarter on 2-12 fgs (17%)! Phil was their leading scorer with 12pts and Webb came through with a double-double (11p 12r)! Though the Beastion did double their output in the second quarter they were still down, 23-15 at the half!
The Putties let their foot off the accelerator in the third quarter! They had their lead cut down to 3pts, 29-26! Then came Jason Lee to the rescue! He scored a game high, 19pts, 8 of which came in the final quarter! The Putties shot 5-19 fgs (26%) but made up for their poor field goal shooting by going, 9-11 fts (82%)! They held onto the lead to win the game, 43-39!

Saints (45) v. Prodigies (66)
Next up, came the 2-2 Saints versus the undefeated 3-0 Prodigies (who were without captain Torrent, Barry, Ryan and Arj), but they did had good games from two of their guards.
The Saints really brought out their competitive juices! They were on the floor for every loose ball and every rebound! They out rebounded the Prodigies, 35-26. Their leading scorer, David, had a game high 21pts & 10rebs and Paul had a nice game with 11pts & 11rebs! They were still down at the half, 26-21!
The Prodigies were led by Sean Caiola with a team high 18pts and Quinton with 17pts! Even though they were without 4 of their regulars the "other guys" came through in the clutch! The Prodigies came out in the second half with guns out! They shot 16-29 fgs (55%) in the second half! The Prodigies cruised to a victory, 66-45!

Bulls (77) v. Swishers (80)
An exciting couple of games start for the Bulls! First they are matched up versus the defending champions, Swishers!
The Bulls weren't hitting their shots with the regularity that they're used to. They shot 10-34 fgs (29%) including 2-11 (18%) from downtown yet they were only trailing by 7pts, 31-24 at the half. Angelo (14pts) and Wai (22p 12r) led the way for the Bulls!
The Swishers quickly let their 7pt halftime lead go! They were outscored 21-11, and trailed by 3pts going into the final period. The Swishers weren't going to let the detour their chance at victory! Mikey's double-double (18p 10r) and Dorian's game high 41pts (also a season high for TDS) were major factors in the comeback! Down by 3pts, Dorian pulled up from the left wing and drilled a game tying 3! He made 8-3pters in the game! With sudden death staring them right in the face Dorian caught the ball right wing, pump faked and drove in made the shot and one! Wow! The final score was 80-77!

SC Threat Matrix (95) v. Bulls (96)
After a long double overtime game the Bulls were right back at it again versus the SC Threat Matrix!
SC Threat Matrix were in for a high scoring game! They went 8 men deep and they needed every single one of them! Nick Knight had a game high 10rebs to go along with his 20pts and his brother Chris scored 15pts and dished out 4asts! They were down, 44-40 at the half!
The Bulls doubled their lead to 8pts after the third period (66-58)! Behind Wai's 20pts and Chris 19pts on 7-12 fgs (58%)! The Bulls were tired! They let their lead that was as high as 11pts slip right through their fingers!
With Black's perfect 5-5 3pt, they brought the game into double OT but down by 1pt, 94-93 Wai went to the line and made the first of two to tie the game. He missed the second but hustled to get the rebound and got fouled again! This time making both! With the score, 96-94 Chris took the ball in, pump faked to get the defender in the air and was fouled! He made the first, and with sudden death OT looking them right in the face he missed the second got the rebound and passed it out for the game winning shot but the pass was broken up and stolen by Wai! The Bulls win in a thriller, 96-95!

Dawgs (73) v. SF Braves (56)
The former champions of D2, the Dawgs, bring their 3-1 record into this matchup versus the SF Braves (2-2)!
The SF Braves were shorthanded this day with just 4 players showing up to play! They were game though. They played their hearts out! James (12pts) led the Braves out to an 18-18 1st quarter, but the second quarter was a different story. Greg (22pts) didn't find his stroke until the second half but it was too late. They were down at the half, 37-26!
The Dawgs had to find the right combination to defeat the Braves, but once they did there was no turning back! Joe made his first 5-3pters and finished with 21pts and Kiyoshi had a good game finishing with, 16pts! Myke played big with 14rebs and dominated the block!
The Dawgs and Braves played evenly in the 1st and 3rd quarters but the 2nd and 4th the Dawgs dominated! They won the game, 73-56!
